With Gus Malzahn electing to step down as head coach of the UCF Knights, many in the fanbase have begun to wonder what will happen to the roster.
One key player, freshman quarterback Dylan Rizk, took to social media to announce some positive words surrounding the program.
“When one chapter ends, another begins,” Rizk said. “Reflecting on this season and excited for what’s coming. We appreciate you always showing out Knight Nation. It’s up from Here.”
Rizk stepped in as one of the four quarterbacks to see action in Orlando, alongside KJ Jefferson, EJ Colson, and Jacurri Brown. Rizk, one of the youngest of the group, happened to be the most successful this fall, with some decent numbers in limited games. The Florida native finished his freshman season with 73 completions for 915 yards and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 5-2.
Coming out of Cardinal Gibbons High School in the Class of 2024, Rizk was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1000th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 49th-ranked player at his position and the 144th-ranked player in the state of Florida.
While it’s unclear who will be the next head coach at UCF, retaining Dylan Rizk is a step in the right direction. UCF enters the offseason in need of a major hit in the coaching carousel to keep the roster of future prospects in tact.
