Arizona State (10-2) is preparing for one of its biggest games in school history, with the 2024 Big 12 Championship Game set for Saturday, December 7.
The Sun Devils will face Iowa State (10-2) in that game, but it will have to do so without one of its best players.
On Monday, Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham announced that wide receiver Jordyn Tyson will miss the Big 12 title game and is out “indefinitely” after suffering an apparent injury in the third quarter of the Sun Devils’ 49-7 win over Arizona on Saturday.
Tyson fell hard on his left shoulder and had to leave the game before being seen celebrating with his team with his left arm in a sling.
Before the injury, Tyson had eight catches for 143 yards and one touchdown and was well on his way to another monster performance.
Tyson finished the regular season ranked third in the Big 12 with 1,101 receiving yards, as well as sixth in receptions (75) and tied for second in receiving touchdowns (10).
With Tyson out, it’s likely that Arizona State will have to lean even more on senior running back Cam Skattebo, who might already be the most valuable player in the Big 12.
