Syndication: Arizona Republic

The 2024 regular season is in the books, and the Big 12 Title Game is set, as No. 12 Arizona State (10-2) and No. 16 Iowa State (10-2) are headed to Arlington to crown a Big 12 Champion on Saturday.

It was a chaotic year around the Big 12, and compared to the preseason poll, the final standings are almost inverse from what was expected back in August.

There are so many proud fan bases around this league, and a quick glance at the attendance numbers will tell you everything you need to know about how much fun the league was to follow in 2024.

Every team in the Big 12 played either six or seven home games on the year, and there were a few fan bases that absolutely showed out. Unfortunately, there were a few who disappointed as well.

Let’s take a look at a few of the final numbers.

Which Big 12 Teams Led Home Attendance in 2024?

Strictly by percentage capacity, the Colorado Buffaloes had the best home attendance of anyone in 2024, with a season total of 104.64% capacity, followed closely by Kansas State (103.07%) and Utah (102.95%). BYU was close to getting over the 100% capacity number as well, but came up just short at 99.02% on the year.

Who Had the Most Total Fans Attend Games in 2024?

By sheer volume, Texas Tech had the most fans attend games for the 2024 season, with a total of 410,361 on the year. Iowa State was the only other team to eclipse the 400K mark, with 405,185 on the season. It’s worth noting that both the Red Raiders and Cyclones were among five schools that had a total of seven home games.

Which Teams Had the Worst Attendance in 2024?

Playing at a combination of Children’s Mercy Park and Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas had just 68.01% capacity on the season, with 236,448 fans over the course of six games. Technically, that’s the worst of any team, but it feels a little off-kilter, considering the Jayhawks didn’t have a home stadium.

Houston, on the other hand, does not have that same excuse. The Cougars has just 68.56% capacity on the season and the lowest total of any team in the league, with 164,536 total fans on the year.

How did the Big 12 Conference fare as a whole?

Over the course of 101 conference games, the Big 12 had a total of 4,879,697 fans in the stands this season, giving the league a capacity percentage of 92.84% on the year.
