Kansas State center Ayoka Lee’s name is stamped all over the Wildcats’ record book, so it’s only fitting that she end up the program’s leading scorer.
Ayoka Lee took over the top spot on the all-time scoring list during the No. 13 Wildcats’ game with Eastern Illinois on Tuesday night at Bramlage Coliseum.
Lee needed just 13 points to pass Kendra Wecker for the record. Lee had 2,321 points entering the game while Wecker, who played from 2001-06, finished her career with 2,333 points.
Lee broke record with 6:59 left in the third quarter as she made a turnaround layup to give her xx points for the game. After an Eastern Illinois turnover led to a dead ball, Wildcats coach Jeff Mittie substituted her out, which gave her teammates a chance to celebrate with her.
With the record, Lee also ranks No. 10 in scoring all-time in Big 12 Conference history.
She also became the fifth player in program history to take the top spot in program history.
Ayoka Lee Can Break More Records
Lee has other career marks in reach this season. She needs four double-doubles to move into second in Big 12 history for career double-double. She needs 229 rebounds to move into second in Big 12 history for career rebounds. She also needs 43 made free throws to set the school record for career free throws made.
The Byron, Minn., native’s accomplishments already read like a novel. The 6-6 graduate student is the first player in K-State history and the third in Big 12 history to have 2,000 or more points, 1,000 or more rebounds and 300 or more blocks for a career. She is also the only player in K-State history to have 700 or more points, 300 or more rebounds and 90 or more blocks in a season.
She holds the record for most points in a single Division I women’s game with 61. She has also been named a first-team, second-team and honorable mention All-America by multiple outlets in 2022 and last season.
She is a four-time All-Big 12 first-team selection and a two-time All-Big 12 defensive team selection.
