One of the biggest recruiting battles in the 2025 cycle has been Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats attempting to fend off Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks for the Wildcats’ top prospect.
That player is five-star tight end Linkon Cure, who recently visited Oregon and has received multiple crystal balls for a potential flip from Kansas State.
Cure’s High School, Goodland, announced on Facebook that Cure’s recruitment decision would take place in the High School Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. CT and is open to the public.
The Kansas native committed to Kansas State on July 1st, with the Wildcats earning the nod over Kansas, Texas A&M, and Oregon. The Ducks never truly stopped recruiting Cure after his decision and even set up a visit to Eugene ahead of National Signing Day.
Coming out of Goodland High School in the Class of 2025, Cure is listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 26th-ranked player. He also checks in as the second-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Kansas.
Cure spoke in high regard about the Wildcats upon his initial commitment and outlined his thoughts on the decision with On3’s Chad Simmons.
“It was a feeling that I got,” Cure said. “That Saturday night, I didn’t sleep at all. First, I texted Taylor Braet. I had to call him to wake him up, so I called him at 7:00 in the morning and said, ‘Hey, can you come pick me up at the hotel and take me to the stadium? I just need some time to think.’ He said, ‘Yeah, I’ll be right there.’ So, he took me to the stadium, and I went up into Section 227 and either seat 17 or 18. I sat down, and that’s when I was making sure it was the right decision.
Recently, however, Cure’s tune has changed a bit, with Oregon emerging as a serious threat to flip the Goodland native.
“I’m a Wildcat, but anything is possible right now,” Cure told KSNT’s Landon Reinhardt.
The grueling clash between Oregon and Kansas State for the 6-foot-6 pass catcher comes to an end on Wednesday, December 4th, in the Goodland High School Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. CT.
