What Does Hunter Dickinson Think About Getting Ejected vs. Duke?

Syndication: The Topeka Capital-Journal

While Kansas center Hunter Dickinson is no stranger to squabbles with officiating crews, in the Jayhawks non-conference matchup vs. Duke, things got a little out of hand.

Dickinson was ejected from the contest for kicking one of the Duke athletes, which was declared a Flagrant 2.

“I think the thing that probably got it to Flagrant 2 was the slow motion,” Dickinson said. “If you watched it in real-time at normal speed, I feel like it was a Flagrant 1. I feel like a Flagrant 2 needs to have a little bit more malicious intent for that to occur, but I put myself in that position and the refs made the call. If you’re going to put yourself in that position, you can’t be too picky and choosy with it.”

While Dickinson’s ejection led to some adversity for the Jayhawks, Bill Self’s team found production from individuals like KJ Adams and Flory Bidunga. Dickinson played just 24 minutes in the contest, which resulted in the true freshman Bidunga finishing off the game at center.

The move resulted in Dickinson getting crushed on social media, but as noted by the Kansas center, the play didn’t look all that bad in real-time. When slowed down on the monitors, fans got a good look as to why the All-American was removed from the court.

Dickinson and the Jayhawks return to action next vs. Creighton on Wednesday, December 4th, at 7:30 p.m. CT.
