According to a report from the Associated Press, TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati is set to leave the Horned Frogs and become the new athletic director at South Carolina.
The Gamecocks’ Board of Trustees will reportedly meet on Thursday to make Donati’s hiring official.
South Carolina’s long-time athletic director Ray Tanner announced back in September that he would move to a different role as a special advisor for President Michael Amiridis, once his successor was established.
Donati has served as TCU’s athletic director since December 2017 and has played a vital role in building the Horned Frogs program for a strong future. He played a significant role in transitioning the football program out of the Gary Patterson era and into the Sonny Dykes era.
One of the biggest achievements in TCU school history happened during Donati’s tenure, when the Horned Frogs football team made it to the 2022 National Championship game after beating Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
TCU ended the regular season with an 8-4 record this season and tied for fifth place in the final standings.
Meanwhile, South Carolina finished the 2024 season with a 9-3 record and a six-game winning streak, including a huge 17-14 win over Clemson last weekend.
Who will replace Donati at TCU is still uncertain, but a search has likely already started with him heading to the SEC.
