Baylor Bears

UConn vs. Baylor Basketball Prediction, Odds, Time, TV for December 4th, 2024

NCAA Basketball: Texas at Baylor

The Baylor men’s basketball team gets set to take on the UConn Huskies in Storrs, Conn., on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.

Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. central. The No. 15 Bears (5-2 overall) have played No. 25 UConn (5-3) just one time in their history, and the Bears lost that contest.

Baylor has won two of its last three games, including a double-overtime victory over St. John’s and a loss to Tennessee, both at the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. UConn had a disastrous week in Maui, as the Huskies lost all three of their games and coach Dan Hurley made news by saying he would probably never take his team to a multi-team event again.

Baylor vs. UConn Predictions

This is Baylor’s first true road game, as their four games away from Waco have been at neutral sites. While the Bears’ season-opening loss to Gonzaga was in Spokane, the game was not at the Bulldogs’ home arena. So Baylor has no record to draw on for road games. Baylor is 2-2 in those neutral site games and its other games were against Arkansas, Tennessee and St. John’s.

Bears freshman VJ Edgecombe is “progressing nicely and hopes to be available” for Wednesday’s game against UConn at Gampel Pavilion, per Scott Drew (reported by Jon Rothstein). Edgecombe is averaging 11 points per game.

UConn is eight games into the season and hasn’t beaten a power conference team this season, with losses to Memphis, Colorado and Dayton. The Huskies are about to start a run against Baylor, Texas and Gonzaga.

Alex Karaban, who has been the Huskies’ leading scorer in four of their games, is unlikely to play with a head injury.

This feels like a game Baylor can steal, in spite of it being on the road, as it has played a tougher schedule to this point than the Huskies.
