On Wednesday, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark met with media via Zoom to preview the 2024 Big 12 Championship Game.
For obvious reasons, Yormark is frustrated with how the College Football Playoff committee has approached their Top 25 rankings for the new-look 12-team playoff.

‘Logos Over Resumes…’
“The [selection] committee continues to show time and time again that they are paying attention to logos versus résumés. I’ve said that before, I want to say it again. I say logos because they’re concentrating on teams logos and conference logos.”
‘Strength of Schedule Should Matter.’
“Strength of schedule should matter, and wins against Power 4 opponents should matter — 74% of the Big 12 wins were against Power 4 opponents this season. Meanwhile, the Group of 5 is 11-80. I want to say that again — 11-80. In no way should a Group of 5 champion be ranked above our champion. I’m going to say that again. In no way should a Group of 5 champion be ranked above our champion.”

“The committee clearly focuses on the wins and loss column. Going by that principle, no three-loss team from a Power 4 conference should get a bye over a two-loss champion from the Big 12. I’m gonna say that again — No three-loss team from a Power 4 conference should get a bye over a two-loss champion from the Big 12.”
‘What Are the Key Metrics?’
“One thing I am concerned about [with the College Football Playoff format], candidly, I need to better understand, what are the key metrics that are being used as we think about the rankings each week? Because strength of schedule was something that was identified for me early in the fall as a critically important metric, and I’m not sure that that has happened, at least to date.”
