On Friday, the offseason departures continued for the Kansas Jayhawks as their projected starter at the running back position entered the transfer portal.

That player is senior running back Sevion Morrison, who contributed in 2024 behind Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw.

Coming out of Edison High School in the Class of 2025, Morrison was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 333rd-ranked player. He also checked in as the 23rd-ranked player at his position and the fourth-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma native elected to commit to Nebraska for his college career over the likes of Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Minnesota, UCF, Utah, and many more. He spent one season with the Cornhuskers before jumping in the transfer portal and finding a home in Lawrence, Kansas.

In three seasons with the Jayhawks, Morrison totaled 60 carries for 391 yards and four scores. The biggest game of his career came against Kansas State in 2022 vs. Tennessee Tech, a game that featured 70 rushing yards and a score for the Oklahoma native.

With his decision to enter the portal, Morrison becomes the fourth Jayhawk to hit the portal this offseason, alongside Brian Dilworth, Kaleb Purdy, and DeShawn Warner.
