Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks officially have a new offensive coordinator in the press box after Jeff Grimes elected to accept a new job with Wisconsin.
Reports of Grimes’ being the main target in Wisconsin’s search circulated on Friday but were not confirmed or finalized until Saturday afternoon with an official post by ESPN.
Grimes’ departure left a vacancy at OC for Kansas for less than 24 hours as Leipold quickly moved to promote quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski to a new position.
“Jim and I have worked together for more than 10 years, and he has a great knowledge of the game and our offense,” Leipold said. “Jim has been instrumental in our success and will continue to push our program forward. He is a quality mentor to our student-athletes and takes pride in being a Jayhawk.”
Zebrowski and Leipold have worked together at multiple destinations, including Kansas, Buffalo, and Wisconsin Whitewater. At Whitewater, Zebrowski served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator and was a member of Leipold’s talented Buffalo teams.
“I’m thankful to Coach Leipold and the University of Kansas for the opportunity to serve as offensive coordinator,” Zebrowski said. “I’m so excited for this opportunity to continue to work with our staff in developing our student-athletes and moving the Kansas football program forward. Let’s go, Rock Chalk!”
