Kansas State Loses Key Contributor to Transfer Portal

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Tech

Late on Friday night, Kansas State lost a key piece to the transfer portal in redshirt freshman wide receiver Tre Spivey.

Spivey, a 6-foot-4 wideout from Arizona, showed up in flashes down the stretch and was set to enter the 2025 season as one of Avery Johnson’s top targets.

“First and foremost, I want to thank the lord for everything he has made possible in my life,” Spivey wrote. “To the fans, your unwavering support over these past two seasons has meant the world to me. Representing Kansas State has been an honor I will carry with me forever. I want to give special thanks to Coach Tru, Coach Klieman, and Coach Middleton for believing in me, pushing me, and guiding me both on and off the field.”

Coming out of Hamilton High School in the Class of 2023, Spivey was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 545th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 71st-ranked player at his position and the 10th-ranked player in the state of Arizona.

In two seasons with the Wildcats, Spivey posted 15 grabs for 184 yards and a score. Spivey didn’t see the field much early in his career but came on strong down the stretch for the Wildcats. In his final three games with the team, the Arizona native recorded nine grabs for 119 yards and a score.

Spivey finished off his announcement by saying, “After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal with three years left. Thank you for everything. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.”
