The Colorado Buffaloes are headed to the Alamo Bowl later this month to take on the BYU Cougars, according to the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.
The game is set for Saturday, December 28th at 6:30 p.m. central. The game will be at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
BYU is coming off a 10-2 season after missing bowl eligibility in 2023. The 2024 season saw the program bounce back with multiple Top 25 wins against SMU and Kansas State, as well as a nine-game win streak to start the year. In the stretch, the team took down Southern Illinois, SMU, Wyoming, Kansas State, Baylor, Arizona, Oklahoma State, UCF, and Utah.
Meantime, Colorado tied the Cougars’ conference record of 7-2 with a stellar season of their own. Deion Sanders’ group shocked the nation with a high-flying air raid attack and a vastly improved defense. While Shedeur Sanders and Heisman’s favorite, Travis Hunter, get most of the praise for the incredible year, the depth behind them also stepped up.
Colorado has played in 29 bowl games and has a 12-17 record in those games. The Buffaloes made their first bowl game since 2020, a game that resulted in a 23-55 loss to Texas in the Alamo Bowl.
BYU has played in 37 bowl games and has a 15-21-1 record in those games. The Cougars returned to bowl eligibility for the first time since 2019 with a 38-34 loss to Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl.
Colorado and BYU have met 11 times in program history, a series that Colorado leads 8-3-1. Despite Colorado’s dominance in the series, BYU has won the last two matchups.
