The Baylor Bears are headed to the Texas Bowl later this month to take on the LSU Tigers out of the SEC.
The game is set for Tuesday, December 31st, at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. The game will be at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
After entering the season on the hot seat, Dave Aranda turned things around for Baylor in a big way. The team rallied back from a slow start to finish the season at 8-4. They finished the season on a six-game winning streak with wins over Kansas, Houston, West Virginia, TCU, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.
Meantime, the LSU Tigers went 8-4 on the season and 5-3 in SEC play. The Tigers suffered losses against USC, Texas A&M, Alabama and Florida. This will be the third straight season the Tigers have played in a bowl game under Brian Kelly and he’s 2-0 so far in bowl games as the LSU head coach, winning the Citrus and ReliaQuest Bowl each of the past two seasons.
Baylor has played in 27 bowl games and has a 14-13 record in those games. The Bears reached bowl eligibility for the first time since 2022, a game Aranda’s group lost 30-15 to Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Baylor’s opponent for the Texas Bowl could be announced at any time on Sunday. We will update this article when the announcement comes down.
