The Oklahoma State men’s basketball team gets set to take on the Seton Hall Pirates in Newark, N.J., on Sunday, December 8th, 2024.
Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. central. Both team are unranked. It is the final game in the Big 12-Big EAST Battle series.
The Cowboys (5-2) won their only true road game, which came against Tulsa. Oklahoma State had an interesting time at the Charleston Classic, losing to FAU and Nevada, sandwiched around the Cowboys’ biggest win of the season to this point against Miami (FL). That is OSU’s only power conference opponent and win.
The Pirates (5-4) Have played more than half of their games at home and are struggling to beat mid-major teams. Seton Hall is 0-1 against high majors (loss to Vanderbilt) and also has losses to Fordham, Hofstra and Monmouth.

Oklahoma State vs. Seton Hall Predictions
After moving on from Mike Boynton Jr., the Oklahoma State Cowboys hoped their new coach, Steve Lutz, would inject some life into the offense. And, so far, he and his staff have. It’s meant the most to guard Bryce Thompson, who looks more consistent offensively than he’s ever been with OSU, as he averaging 12.6 points.
Marchellus Avery leads OSU with 13 points per game while forward Abou Ousmane averages 12 points and 5.5 rebounds. Lutz is cycling 10 players through at least 12 minutes of playing time looking for good combinations.
Seton Hall’s biggest issue right now is scoring. For a high-major team that has played just one other high-major team, averaging below 60 points per game won’t cut it in in the Big EAST. Guard Chaunce Jenkins leads with 13.1 points per game while another guard, Isaiah Coleman, averages 10.9 points.
The Pirates are solid from the 3-point line (35%) but only pull down a little more than 35 rebounds per game. Seton Hall doesn’t have a dominant rebounder.
OSU is not a good 3-point shooting team right now (34.6%) and on most days is liable to get outrebounded, as the Cowboys average 37.6 boards per game. But that may not happen on Sunday.
