On Sunday morning, Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes lost a key member of the quarterback room to the transfer portal.
That player is freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson, who started the bulk of games for Utah in Cam Rising’s absence.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to The University of Utah for the incredible opportunities, support, and experiences I’ve had during my time here,” Wilson said. “To the coaches, teammates, and everyone who believed in me, thank you for helping me grow both on and off the field. The memories made and lessons learned will stay with me forever. To the amazing fans, your unwavering support has meant the world to me and has been a constant source of motivation.”
Wilson posted some solid numbers in his freshman season with the program, throwing for 1,510 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 10-11. Utah’s quarterback room saw some interesting ups and downs in 2024, with multiple quarterbacks suffering season-ending injuries. Wilson was thrown into the fire early but showed some flashes of a talented prospect.
Wilson finished his thoughts by saying, “After thoughtful consideration and discussions with my family, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with a redshirt and three years of eligibility remaining. I am excited for what the future holds as I continue to pursue my goals in football and beyond.”
