It’s an all-Big 12 Valero Alamo Bowl in 2024, and fans are in for a treat with No. 17 BYU (10-2) taking on No. 23 Colorado (9-3) in one of the few matchups the regular season didn’t provide in league play.

However, over the last several years, a trend of NFL-bound players opting out of bowl games makes most fans assume that players like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are going to sit this one out.

That’s not how the Buffaloes’ star players will handle things, according to Deion Sanders.

“We have a plethora of seniors who are pro-bound,” Sanders said. “And guess what? Every last one of them is going to play. We don’t tap out. We don’t sit out. This is a blessing to play this wonderful game. Our kids are going to play.”

In case there was any doubt whether that included Hunter, the likely Heisman Trophy winner, Sanders said he’s going to go collect his hardware and then play.

“We’ve got a kid that’s … matter of factly going to pick up the Heisman Trophy this week and he’s going to play,” Sanders said of Hunter.

Getting Shedeur for one last game is equally as important for the Buffs’ chances in this game. The outgoing senior ranks third nationally with 3,926 yards and second with 35 passing touchdowns.

“He’s going to play,” Coach Prime said. “We cannot wait to put on our best suits and our uniforms.”

The 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl is set for December 28 at 6:30 p.m. CT (ABC) from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
