One of the best wide receivers in the Big 12 has officially played his final game in the league after five years and 48 career games.
Kansas wide receiver Luke Grimm shared his farewell to the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday, as the senior exhausted his eligibility on Saturday against the Baylor Bears.
He helped form one of the Big 12’s best wide receiver trios alongside Quentin Skinner and Lawrence Arnold in 2024.
“First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, teammates, coaches, and the incredible fans who have supported me every step of the way,” Grimm wrote on X. “Without their unwavering belief in me, none of this would be possible. I am forever grateful for the countless lessons, challenges, and memories we’ve created together.”
“The best is yet to come,” Grimm continued. “I’ve spent years dreaming of this moment, and it is an absolute honor to announce that I will be pursuing the next steps of my career and will DECLARE FOR THE 2025 NFL DRAFT. Growing up, the NFL felt like a world away, but with the love and support I’ve received from those around me, this dream has become a reality. Now and always, ROCK CHALK!!!!”
In his five seasons with the program, Grimm posted 177 grabs for 2,472 yards and a total of 24 scores. He originally committed to Kansas in the Class of 2020 as a three-star prospect and the nation’s 1941st-ranked player. After five years of football, Grimm emerged as a serious NFL prospect at the wide receiver position.
Grimm and the Jayhawks finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record, losing their final game of the year at Baylor, 45-17. Kansas ripped off three straight victories against ranked opponents to get within one game of bowl eligibility but ultimately couldn’t overcome a 1-5 start on the year.
