Colorado’s do-it-all superstar Travis Hunter appears to be set to sweep about as many national awards and accolades as humanly possible in the coming weeks and months, and he’s added another one to his ever-growing list.
The Heisman frontrunner and current odds-on favorite to go No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft has been selected as the winner of the 2024 Paul Hornung Award, presented annually to the nation’s most versatile player in major college football.
According to a statement from the Louisville Sports Commission, which presents the award, Hunter is the first player to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons since its inception back in 2010.
“Colorado junior cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, perhaps the most prolific and accomplished two-way player at the FBS level since the advent of the two-platoon system, was named the winner of the 2024 Paul Hornung Award given annually to the most versatile player in major college football. Hunter also earned the Award in 2023 and is the first-ever repeat winner.”
Hunter just turned in one of the most impressive seasons that college football fans will ever witness; he was a legitimate game-changer on both sides of the football.
The junior wideout led the nation with 21 offensive plays of 20 yards or more, led the Big 12 and was second nationally in touchdown receptions (14), led the Big 12 and was eighth nationally in passes defended (11), and was second in the Big 12 in receiving yards per game.
Hunter recorded 92 catches for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense while collecting four interceptions, 11 PBUs, 32 tackles, one TFL, and one forced fumble.
According to the release, Hunter played ten different positions over 12 games: backfield, slot, wide, box, slot corner, wide corner, free safety, kick returner, punt returner, field goal/extra point block.
