Mike Gundy is reportedly set to bring back a familiar face to Stillwater to become his next offensive coordinator.
Doug Meacham, 59, is set to return to Stillwater to take over as Oklahoma State’s offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.
Meacham has been on TCU’s staff since 2020, serving in various roles, including calling the offense for the Frogs in 2021. His most consistent role has been coaching inside wide receivers, which he’s done in all three seasons in Fort Worth, playing a part in the Horned Frogs, averaging 317.6 passing yards per game in 2024.
The Cowboys’ new play-caller has served as the offensive coordinator at several places over the years –aside from the aforementioned 2021 season at TCU – including Jacksonville State (1997-99), Samford (2002-04), Houston (2013) and Kansas (2017-18), among other stops.
This will be Meacham’s second stint on Gundy’s staff, as he coached tight ends and inside receivers in Stillwater from 2005 to 2012. He was OSU’s passing game coordinator in 2008 and 2009. He was part of an OSU offensive staff that was in the top five nationally in total offense in 2010, 2011 and 2012. He also had a stint coaching in Stillwater from 1989 to 1991.
Meacham was an offensive lineman for the Cowboys from 1983 to 1987, and will join new OSU defensive coordinator Todd Grantham as the Pokes try to turn things around after Gundy’s worst season as a head coach.
