While the writing was most likely on the wall for Dequan Finn in Waco, the former Toledo quarterback has officially re-entered the transfer portal after one season at Baylor.

Finn was brought in as the potential starter for Dave Aranda’s team but was beaten out by Sawyer Robertson, who quickly developed into one of the Big 12’s top signal callers in 2024.

The reports first broke by way of 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who mentioned that Finn was seeking a medical hardship waiver with the intention to return to college for one final year. One week later, his decision to hit the portal was finalized.

Through five years of college football, Finn has recorded 562 completions for 7,377 yards with 66 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. In 2023, Finn was listed as the 75th-ranked player in the transfer portal ahead of his move to Waco and the 11th-best player available at his position.

The loss doesn’t mean much for Baylor fans, as their future appears to be incredibly bright in the hands of Sawyer Robertson. The junior quarterback led the Bears to a fifth-place finish in Big 12 Conference play after being picked to finish 12th in the Preseason Media Poll.

Baylor will take the field next against LSU in the Texas Bowl on Tuesday, December 31st, at 2:30 p.m. central.
