Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter has been sweeping up national awards left and right, while Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan is widely regarded as the top overall wide receiver prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft class.
Unfortunately, only one of them could be named the winner of the Biletnikoff Award – presented annually to the most outstanding wide receiver in college football – for the 2024 season.
The recipient was selected on Thursday, with Hunter, McMillan, and Nick Nash of San Jose State left as the three finalists. Here’s a look at each of their final offensive statlines after the regular season.
Travis Hunter, WR, Colorado: 92 receptions, 1,152 yards, 14 touchdowns, 12.5 yards per catch
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona: 84 receptions, 1,319 yards, 8 touchdowns, 15.7 yards per catch
Nick Nash, WR, San Jose State: 104 receptions, 1,382 yards, 16 touchdowns, 13.3 yards per catch
So, who won the award?
Well, of course, it was Hunter who’s now collected more national awards than he could hold at once, taking home the AP National Player of the Year, Walter Camp Award, Lott Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Paul Hornung Award, and was first-team All-America on both offense and defense.
On Saturday, he’ll likely add the Heisman Trophy to his list of honors, but not everyone agrees that he was the rightful winner of the nation’s best wide receiver.
As Wyoming beat writer Alex Taylor points out, San Jose State’s Nick Nash led the nation in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, yet he didn’t take home the title of the best wideout in the country.
He wasn’t the only one who felt Nash was snubbed, either.
