Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, putting a bow on an epic season for the two-way Colorado star.
The vote was close, with Hunter garnering 552 first-place votes for 2,231 total points. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty was second with 309 first-place votes and 2,017 points. The race between Hunter and Jeanty was the closest margin of victory since 2009, when Mark Ingram edged Toby Gerhart.
Two quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel of Oregon and Cam Ward of Miami, finished third and fourth, respectively. And Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo came in 5th place. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was also a player to receive votes, finishing in 8th place.

Travis Hunter became the second Buffaloes player to win college football’s most prestigious award, following late running back Rashaan Salaam in 1994.
On offense, he had 92 catches for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns this season to help lead the Buffaloes to a 9-3 season, their first back in the Big 12 Conference. On defense, he had four interceptions, broke up 11 passes and forced one fumble.
The junior has had quite a week, with the Heisman Trophy capping off other awards, including the AP Player of the Year, the Walter Camp Award as national player of the year, the Chuck Bednarik Award as the top defensive player and the Biletnikoff Award for best wide receiver.
Hunter is projected as a Top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
