On Sunday, Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks added a new name through the transfer portal with the addition of Ball State transfer Cam Pickett.
Pickett, a 6-foot sophomore from Chicago, Illinois, joins the Jayhawks after spending last season at Ball State.
In his lone season with the Cardinals, Pickett developed into one of the team’s top big-play threats. The sophomore wideout recorded 40 grabs for 528 yards and a pair of scores this fall, which led all wide receivers.
Coming out of Brooks College Prep in the Class of 2022, Pickett was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1807th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 189th-ranked player at his position and the 30th-ranked player in the state of Illinois.
Pickett’s commitment fills a major need for the Jayhawks with their star trio of wideouts out of eligibility. Luke Grimm and Quentin Skinner have both announced their intention to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, while Lawrence Arnold has exhausted his collegiate eligibility.
The addition marks the Jayhawks’ fifth portal pickup this offseason, with Cam Pickett joining the likes of Laith Marjan, DeAndre Harper, Lyrik Rawls, and Gage Keys.
