On Saturday night, Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter brought the Heisman Trophy back to Boulder.
Hunter’s mom, Ferrante Edmonds, spoke candidly about Hunter upon winning the award and stole the hearts of America.
“I love the person that he is, but I’m also grateful because what they said was my biggest mistake turned out to be my biggest blessing,” Edmonds said. “You can make mistakes, but that does not define who you are. I’m so excited for him, but I’m also excited for everyone behind him. You can do it. If you fall, get back up. You only fail when you stop, and he didn’t.”
Hunter took home the award over the likes of Dillon Gabriel, Cam Ward, and Ashton Jeanty. Hunter’s heroics led the Buffaloes to a 9-3 finish just one year after a 4-8 season. Hunter’s second year in Boulder quickly became the stuff of legend as one of the best two-way players of all time.
He capped off the 2024 season with some impressive stats on both sides of the ball. On offense, Hunter finished his Heisman campaign with 92 grabs for 1,152 yards and 14 scores. On defense, the Georgia native posted 31 tackles, 11 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and four interceptions.
Hunter and the Buffaloes take the field for the final time in 2024 on December 28th vs. BYU in the Alamo Bowl.
