One of the best linebackers in the Big 12 appears to be on the move on Monday, with Colorado’s Nikhai Hill-Green entering the transfer portal.
Hill-Green, a 6-foot-2 linebacker from Baltimore, Maryland, finished second on the team in tackles this fall for Coach Prime’s group.
In 2024, Hill-Green recorded 82 total tackles, which trailed just Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, a safety who recorded one more stop (83) than the Maryland native. Hill-Green started his career in Michigan, where he spent two seasons before stopping in Charlotte and Colorado for one year.
Coming out of St. Frances Academy in the Class of 2020, Hill-Green was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 384th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 23rd-ranked player at his position and the 12th-ranked player in the state of Maryland.
The departure comes as a bit of a shock as Nikhai Hill-Green was on track to be one of Colorado’s leaders on the defensive side of the ball in 2025. He worked his way into a legitimate NFL prospect in Boulder but will now look for a new home in the near future.
Colorado takes the field next against a Big 12 rival, BYU, in the 2024 Alamo Bowl on Saturday, December 28th, at 6:30 p.m. CT.
