Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are off to a blazing start in the transfer portal, racking up seven commitments through the first seven days of the winter transfer portal window.
The latest commitment comes from Will Jados, the 6-foot-8, 307-pound offensive tackle from Miami (OH). Jados joins former teammate Reggie Virgil — one of the most coveted wide receivers in the portal — as the second RedHawk to join the Red Raiders.
While he might not carry the same hype as Virgil, Jados’ addition is more than noteworthy. He not only brings a wealth of experience with him to Lubbock with 38 career starts, but has also played at a high level, earning second-team All-MAC in 2023.
With Jados’ commitment, Texas Tech ranks second nationally in the transfer portal rankings, trailing only Ole Miss, according to 247Sports.
Jados was just a two-star prospect out of high school but was highly soughtafter when he becamne available last week, quickly earning offers from programs like Oklahoma State, Pitt, and Wake Forest among others.
Coupled with fellow transfer offensive lineman Hunter Zambrano (Illinois State), Jados is expected to help bolster a Texas Tech offensive line that was middle-of-the-pack in the Big 12 this season.
The Red Raiders ranked 10th out of 16 teams allowing 2.00 sacks per game, eighth in rushing offense (161.8 ypg), and ninth in yards per carry (4.44).
It’s expected that TTU will add at least one more lineman in the portal, to help futher bolster the group heading into 2025.
