Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks have been cooking lately with several impressive additions from the transfer portal.
That trend continued on Tuesday with the commitment of Bowling Green transfer Joseph Sipp Jr.
Sipp Jr., a 6-foot linebacker from Tampa, Florida, earned First-Team All-Mac honors in 2024 due to his incredible season. The Florida native posted 75 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, and a fumble recovery this fall.
Coming out of Hillsborough High School in the Class of 2022, Sipp Jr. was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1900th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 195th-ranked player at his position and the 253rd-ranked player in the state of Florida.
Sipp Jr. was a sought-after prospect in the transfer portal this cycle, receiving offers from 11 different schools. The group included Kansas, Arizona, Cal, Cincinnati, Houston, and more.
With his commitment, Sipp Jr. became the Jayhawks’ 10th addition through the transfer portal this month. He is joined by Ball State’s Cam Pickett, Northwest Missouri State’s DeAndre Harper, South Alabama’s Laith Marjan, Utah State’s D.J. Graham II, Oklahoma State’s Lyrik Rawls, Alabama’s Jahlil Hurley, Auburn’s Gage Keys, Iowa’s Leshon Williams, and Tulsa’s Jack Tanner.
