On Tuesday, Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys added a new player through the transfer portal with the addition of West Georgia’s Malik Charles.
Charles, a 6-foot-5 defensive lineman from Tempe, Arizona, emerged as a dominant presence last season in the United Athletic Conference.
“I wanna thank God for putting me in the position to get an opportunity like this,” Charles wrote on X. “I wanna thank all the coaches that offered me an opportunity to play for their school. With that being said, I have committed to Oklahoma State.”
In 2024, Charles posted four sacks and 20 total tackles as the team’s second-leading sacker.
“If I am being honest, it’s like Carrollton but a better version if that makes sense,” Charles told 247Sports’ McClain Baxley. “It’s a true college town, and people out there truly love OSU, and I love that, here in Carrollton, you know most people are dawg fans. So I am just excited to play in that type of atmosphere.”
Charles finished his thoughts by saying, “Love the coaches, man, great guys, and I truly believe I’m going to develop into the player I want to be here with them. It just felt like home; on top of that, my girlfriend is a big part of my life, and they just really cared about that and wanted to make sure both of us were straight with being there.”
With the commitment, Oklahoma State has now added five players in the transfer portal, including Malik Charles, Oklahoma’s Kalib Hicks, Central Arkansas’ Jordan Owens, Weber State’s Lavaka Taukeiaho, and Akron’s Bryan McCoy.
