Texas Tech has been one of the most aggressive programs in the transfer portal since it opened last Monday, and it’s paid huge dividends for the Red Raiders roster ahead of 2025.
Before today, Texas Tech was ranked anywhere from No. 1 to No. 6 in the transfer portal team rankings across the recruiting platforms, and now eight days into the cycle, they’ve added yet another major piece to the offseason haul – and it’s a big one.
Lee Hunter, the No. 33 overall player and No. 4 defensive lineman available in the portal, is set to sign with the Red Raiders, according to 247Sports Matt Zenitz.
Zenitz’s report is corroborated by a prediction from On3’s Pete Nakos as well, making it highly likely that TTU is set to add yet another piece to the puzzle.
Hunter spent each of the past three seasons at UCF and played in all 38 games of his career there, starting 23 games over the past two seasons.
Since the start of the 2023 season, Hunter accumulated four sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss with the Knights. His addition to the transfer portal was a major loss for UCF, and now it appears it will sting even more as it appears he’ll remain in the Big 12 and become a part of Texas Tech’s impressive portal class.
