There is just one game left for the Shedeur Sander-to-Travis Hunter connection at Colorado, and after that, the Buffaloes will have to move on to a new group of playmakers.

With Boulder becoming a destination for transfer talent under Deion Sanders, though, the Buffs won’t have to wait for someone on the roster to develop into a playmaker — they can just go out and land someone who’s ready to succeed one of the best quarterbacks in America.

That’s just what they did on Wednesday, too, with Liberty transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter committing to Coach Prime and Colorado.

Salter, the No. 7 quarterback and No. 48 overall player in the class of 2021, originally committed to Tennessee out of high school but spent the last four seasons with the Liberty Flames.

There, Salter grew into one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country, with 5,887 yards and 56 touchdowns through the air and 2,013 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.

Salter’s best season was in 2023 — throwing for 2,876 yards and 32 touchdowns while adding 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns as a ball carrier — when he led Liberty to a 13-1 record, including a Conference USA title and a Fiesta Bowl berth.

According to 247Sports, Salter is the No. 11 quarterback and No. 87 overall player in the portal cycle, making him the second-highest transfer commit for CU behind only Jeheim Oatis (No. 1 DL).

With Salter’s commitment, Colorado now has the No. 12 overall transfer portal class, and the third-best class in the Big 12 behind Texas Tech (No. 3) and Houston (No. 7).
