Netflix announced on Wednesday that they will be rolling out a new series based off of the 2024 SEC football season. The series will air during the summer of 2025.

Do you think that Netflix will explore why the SEC continues to get away with playing eight conference games when the Big 12 and Big Ten play nine?
Do you think we will get a deep dive into the match ups with Samford and Eastern Kentucky in mid-November?
Do you think we will get a behind-the-scenes look into the SEC bias that exists across sports media, most notably from ESPN?
Of course not!

Per the Netflix release, “Produced by Box To Box Films, the powerhouse production company behind Sprint, Full Swing, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, and Break Point, the docuseries will bring viewers everywhere from the field and the locker rooms to the team buses, barbershops, and more.”
“This behind-the-scenes docuseries will bring all the drama and pageantry of Southeastern Conference Football to a worldwide Netflix audience,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey told Netflix.
It will likely be more SEC propaganda that might even make ESPN blush. However, I will reserve judgement of that until I watch some of it next summer and try not to throw up in my mouth in the process. But no promises.
If this doesn’t seem like a continued coordinated effort to do the bidding of one of the alleged Power 2 conferences in college football, then you aren’t paying attention to what is going on here from a bigger picture perspective. Why not follow one program? Or follow the entire sport? Or do a college version of “quarterback” where they pick 3-5 quarterbacks across the country?
No, instead it’s hyper-SEC focused. Go figure.
Maybe it’s all one big coincidence. Color me skeptical. I hope it does you as well.
