One of the biggest whiners of the offseason happens to be none other than Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.
During both of the opening games of the 2024 College Football Playoff, Kiffin took to social media to complain about teams like SMU and Indiana reaching the playoff.
Despite losing games to Florida and 4-8 Kentucky, Kiffin believes that his Ole Miss team deserved a spot in the playoff over 11-2 Indiana and 11-2 SMU.
The 2024 College Football Playoff has been the perfect example of SEC bias nationwide. When coaches like Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin advocate for teams like Alabama and Ole Miss, each of whom lost to awful games this season, the idea of the brand of each program is brought into play.
As many have suggested when attempting to put a three-loss Alabama team in the playoff field over teams with one loss, the on-the-field results have to matter. Unfortunately, many like Kiffin believe that they deserve spots in the playoff despite having a resume that says otherwise.
Ole Miss finished fifth in the SEC this season with an overall record of 9-3. Their three losses came against an underwhelming Florida team, a middle-of-the-pack LSU team that cannot get over the hump, and one of the worst teams in the SEC, Kentucky, who only won one conference game this fall. As for SMU and Indiana, the pair lost games to No. 17 BYU, Clemson in the ACC title game, and No. 6 Ohio State.
At the end of the day, Kiffin will likely continue to engagement farm on social media this week from the confines of his couch rather than on-site in the College Football Playoff with the teams that deserved to be there.
