Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks have officially entered the Top 15 for best transfer portal classes this offseason, and on Monday, they kept things rolling.
The Jayhawks landed a big-time portal target with the commitment of Alabama wideout transfer Emmanuel Henderson Jr.
Henderson, a 6-foot-1 junior from Hartford, Alabama, spent his three seasons with the Crimson Tide but didn’t see the field much. During his three-year career, Henderson posted five grabs for 96 yards. The production wasn’t much in the pass-catching department as the Alabama native entered college football as a running back before making the jump to receiver.
Coming out of Geneva County High School in the Class of 2022, Henderson was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 41st-ranked player. He also checked in as the second-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Alabama.
With the addition, Kansas has now added the second-most prospects of any team in the transfer portal with 16, trailing just Texas Tech, which has added 17.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will remain open until Saturday, December 28, with an exception for players on teams who play bowl games after the window closes. According to NCAA data, 2,273 FBS football players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 1,558 (68.5%) undergraduates and 715 (31.5%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 57% reported that they enrolled in another school, 8% withdrew their names from the portal, and 35% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
