Kirk Herbstreit took a shot at Shannon Sharpe and ESPN’s First Take crew in an interesting beef among ESPN coworkers.
The situation developed with Herbstreit sending a stray shot to the ESPN morning show over their discussions on Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
After blowout out Tennessee in the opening round of the College Football Playoff, Herbstreit took a shot at his coworkers, Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe, saying, “First Take thought Ryan Day was done.”
Smith and Sharp responded accordingly, with Steven A. backing up his claim in full detail. On the other hand, Sharp chose to issue a warning to Herbstreit with some extra bravado.
“I’m gonna be a good teammate,” Sharp said. “I’m gonna let it slide. Everybody’s at ESPN. Because had you not taken the route you’ve taken, I would’ve lit their asses up. If we’re going to be on the same team or work for the same network, don’t do that. Kirk, Chris Fowler, I promise you, if you ever mention any platform that I’m on again talking about ‘I wonder what they’re going to say as negativity,’ I promise you, ESPN ain’t got enough bosses to keep me off y’all for what I’m going to say. Don’t play with me.”
ESPN’s college football propaganda machine has been working overtime in recent weeks to prop up the SEC and complain about issues with the college football playoff. Still, the company found a way to make headlines even when choosing to avoid discussing its obvious SEC-biased claims and beliefs.
