K-State Football in is Exclusive Blue Blood Company After Rate Bowl Win

NCAA Football: Kansas State | Heartland College Sports

There are only so many schools that get to call themselves a “blue blood” in any given sport. In college basketball, teams like North Carolina, Duke, and, yes, Kansas are all privy to that level of presitge.

In football, teams like Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma come to mind – programs that enjoy regular success throughout the generations and are almost always among the top teams in the sport.

Kansas State does not fit the description of “blue blood” – at least not right now – but if they continue to maintain the level of success that they’ve had under Chris Klieman, they’ll at least have an argument.

After a 44-41 come-from-behind win over Rutgers in the Rate Bowl on Thursday night, the Wildcats secured their third-straight season of nine or more wins. In case you aren’t aware, that isn’t happening much in college football these days.

It wasn’t a blowout, runaway kind of victory, which many K-State fans had hoped for, but the victory does put them in a list made up of college football’s most successful programs over the last decade.

After putting together a 9-4 campaign this year, Klieman and the Wildcats will return several key pieces in 2025 and should once again be listed among the contenders for a Big 12 title.

And, if recent history is any indication, there’s a better chance than not that they’ll be right in the thick of things once again.
