While the recruitment of 2025 five-star tight end Ian Premer has included just about every Power 4 program in the country, on Monday, Premer landed a unique offer to add to the list.
The Kansas native announced on social media that in addition to his football offer from Chris Klieman at Kansas State, he had also received a basketball offer to play for Jerome Tang.
Premer, a 6-foot-5 dual-sport athlete from Great Bend, Kansas, is one of the nation’s premier prospects. In football, Premier checks in as a four-star prospect on the 247Sports index and the nation’s top-ranked tight end. On the basketball court, the Kansas native is currently averaging 21.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
His upside was noted largely in a breakdown from 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, who mentioned both basketball and football as potential options for Premer in college.
“Premer is one of the nation’s best two-sport athletes and legit college prospect in football and basketball,” Biggins wrote. “He averaged 21.2 points and 9.2 rebounds a game on the hardwood and can play above the rim. He’s being recruited heavier for football and was productive on both sides of the ball last season. At 6-5, 205 pounds, he was a jumbo receiver who caught 32 balls for 538 yards and nine touchdowns. He added 64 tackles and four interceptions playing safety but tight end is his likely meal ticket at the next level and beyond. He has that great frame, runs well, natural hands, routinely wins jump balls and gives you something after the catch. He lines up predominately out wide but will occasionally move in to the slot. He has a huge catch radius and you can see his hoops background in how easy he wins 50-50 balls and should be an immediate red zone threat. We love the ceiling and feel he’s a high major Power 4 prospect who can play for any school in the country.”
While the jury’s still out on the likelihood of Premer playing both sports in college, with both Chris Klieman and Jerome Tang in agreement, the opportunity is certainly there in the Big 12 Conference.
