After one of the most incredible College Football Playoff games ever, with Arizona State coming up short in double overtime against Texas 39-31, Deion Sanders gave plenty of praise to Kenny Dillingham and the Sun Devils.
Here’s what Deion Sanders posted on X shortly after the game.
Deion did fail in properly tagging the Big 12 Conference, but we’ll let that slide, because his sentiments were spot on.
The Big 12 desperately needed this Peach Bowl game for its own credibility. And the Arizona State Sun Devils were also standing up for the other 15 Big 12 teams, and every ACC team as well, who have all become the targets of the SEC, Big Ten and their media allies at ESPN who are pushing the sport towards two Super Conferences.
No one could have watched that game and said that Arizona State didn’t deserve to be on the field with the Longhorns, who entered the quarterfinals as the favorite to win the College Football Playoff.
And for Deion Sanders to stand up for Kenny Dillingham and the Big 12 in that moment matters for the conference at a perilous time for the sport of college football.

Most recently, it was Kirk Herbstreit trying to rewrite history and getting into it on X with a Big 12 fan who was calling him out for his non-stop bashing of the CFP committee putting SMU and Indiana in the 12-team playoff. Two weeks ago, it was Lane Kiffin‘s non-stop whining during the first round of the CFP about how more SEC teams should have been in.
So at a time when the loudest voices for weeks were promoting the SEC narrative around the sport, Deion Sanders has stepped up for tens of millions of college football fans around the country. And it could not have come at a better time for the Big 12 and the sport.
