A Week 1 Big 12 vs. SEC football match up is set to be moved. The Baylor Bears will take on the Auburn Tigers in Waco on Friday, August 29th, rather than the original date of Saturday, August 30th.
Action Network’s Brett McMurphy had the first report.
Auburn is coming off a tough 5-7 season under Hugh Freeze that included a 2-6 mark in the SEC. Auburn is likely to be led by former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold who transferred to the Tigers this offseason.

Meantime, things are looking up in Waco as the Bears closed the 2024 season very strong. Baylor began the season 2-4 before winning six-straight games to end the regular season. The Bears then lost to LSU 44-31 in the Texas Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
Baylor’s opening month won’t be an easy one. The Bears play Auburn, followed by SMU, who made the College Football Playoff last season, then Samford, and then it’s Big 12 Conference play opening up vs. the defending Big 12 Champion Arizona State Sun Devils.
