Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders made all sorts of waves in the December transfer portal cycle a few months ago, and it appears they’re set to add even more to their haul ahead of 2025.
247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer have both entered a crystal ball projection for the Red Raiders to land Stanford EDGE transfer David Bailey, the No. 1 available transfer player in the country.
Texas Tech hosted Bailey earlier this week and it appears that Lubbock left an impression on the elite pass rusher.
Bailey, listed at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, is a graduate transfer and ranks as the No. 8 overall player in this portal cycle and the No. 1 player available at this time.
In three seasons with the Cardinal, Bailey amassed 111 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks, and in 2024, he had 31 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
Bailey is expected to be an early-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and would be a monumental pickup for the Red Raiders if they’re able to officially close the deal.
