After his third stop with a Big 12 program, it appears that Arizona State running back Alton McCaskill is looking for a fourth home after he entered the transfer portal on Wednesday.
McCaskill spent one season with Arizona State and played a minimal role behind Cam Skattebo, logging seven carries for 17 yards on the year.
McCaskill has seen his production and opportunities disappear since breaking out as a freshman with the Houston Cougars, when he was named the AAC Rookie of the Year with 961 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
A torn ACL in the spring of 2022 forced McCaskill to sit for an entire year, and in 2023, he transferred to Colorado for a fresh start. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out for him in Boulder, as he logged just 14 carries for 59 yards for the Buffs and quickly ended up in the portal after a disappointing year.
Now, after virtually no impact with the Sun Devils, McCaskill will hope to find a new home that allows him to finally get back to his 2021 production.
According to ESPN, McCaskill was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class out of Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas. He held offers from over 30 programs, with programs like USC, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State showing interest.
