One of the highest-rated defensive back recruits in the Big 12 is headed out the door as UCF cornerback Tre’Quon Fegans entered the transfer portal on Wednesday.
Fegans was originally a four-star prospect out of Alabaster, Alabama, ranking as the No. 14 CB and No. 105 overall player in the 2022 class.
He signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide out of high school, but decided to enter the transfer portal after one season. In May of 2023, Fegans landed with the USC Trojans, spent a year in Los Angeles, and then portaled again.
That landed him in Orlando, where he spent the 2024 season. Despite his high athletic ceiling, Fegans failed to make much of an impact for the Knights in his lone season, registering just two tackles all year.
Listed as a redshirt sophomore, Fegans still has multiple years of eligibility remaining but will now be looking for his fourth school in four years.
The transfer portal officially opened on Wednesday, April 16, 2024, and will remain open until Friday, April 25.. According to NCAA data, 2,273 FBS football players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 1,558 (68.5%) undergraduates and 715 (31.5%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 57% reported that they enrolled in another school, 8% withdrew their names from the portal, and 35% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
