One new face for fans of the Big 12 to get to know is the new signal-caller in Houston.
Conner Weigman, a 6-foot-3 quarterback from Cypress, Texas, spent the past three seasons at Texas A&M, where he showed some impressive flashes mixed with some rookie mistakes.
Weigman talked to the media on Saturday and provided some interesting insight on his new wide receiver room.
“They’re dudes,” Weigman said. “They surprised me when I got out here. I didn’t know what to expect, I mean, I just came in here ready to work. They got good hands, good routes, they’re going to make plays for me. I’m excited to throw them the ball this year.”
Houston’s wide receiver room took a hit when it lost Joseph Manjack to TCU, but returners Stephen Johnson and Mehki Mews are expected to take a step forward in 2025, building on their solid numbers from last fall.
Pair that foundation with new transfer wideouts Harvey Broussard and Amare Thomas, and the Cougars have a solid room with weapons for Weigman to utilize. The pair of transfers combined for 93 grabs, 1,156 yards, and 11 scores last season with Broussard at Louisiana and Thomas at UAB.
Houston kicks off their season on Thursday, August 28th, against Stephen F. Austin.
