Matt Campbell and the Iowa State Cyclones suffered a tough loss on Monday morning, with one of their defensive starters entering the transfer portal.
Sophomore linebacker Jack Sadowsky hit the portal in the spring window, after making 17 starts in the past two seasons.
Over the past two seasons, Sadowsky had seen a lot of action. He was initially expected to be a redshirt candidate in his true freshman season, but due to a massive number of injuries to the linebacker room, the Illinois native was thrown into the starting lineup.
In his Cyclone career, Sadowsky posted 62 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup.
Coming out of Batavia High School in the Class of 2023, Sadowsky was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1238th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 58th-ranked player at his position and the 18th-ranked player in the state of Illinois.
While the loss is significant, the Cyclones boast an impressive linebacker room that should pick up the slack fairly easily, with athletes like Caleb Bacon, Carson Willich, Will McLaughlin, Cael Brezina, and Beau Goodwin, all capable of having some impact next fall.
