Oklahoma State quarterback Garret Rangel has entered the NCAA transfer portal after spending three seasons in Stillwater.
The redshirt sophomore from Frisco, Texas, appeared in four games during the 2024 season, completing 17 of 33 passes (51.5%) for 192 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also added 91 rushing yards on nine carries, averaging 10.1 yards per attempt.
Rangel’s most notable performance came against BYU, where he completed six of nine attempts for 51 yards and a score, while also adding 77 yards on five rushing attempts, showcasing his potential as a playmaker.
However, he was injured at the end of his longest play from scrimmage against the Cougars and was forced to miss time after that.
Coming out of Lone Star High School, Rangel was a highly regarded recruit. He was rated as a four-star prospect by On3 and ESPN, ranking as the No. 232 player nationally in the 2022 class. Rangel chose Oklahoma State over offers from Utah, Houston, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, and others.
During his high school career, Rangel amassed impressive statistics, completing 594 of 862 passes for 9,333 yards and 101 touchdowns.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Rangel will be an intriguing option for programs seeking a quarterback with starting expereince and dual-threat capabilities.
