On Saturday, the drastic downfall of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continued, with the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year falling to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders entered the draft with massive expectations and a top-five grade from the majority of the college sports world, but caused some massive controversy when all 32 teams passed on him with the first 143 picks.
After Miami quarterback Cam Ward came off the board with the No. 1 pick, all eyes turned to Sanders and Jackson Dart, who most believed would be the next two signal-callers to come off the board.
With a select few teams in the market for a new quarterback in 2025, the New York Giants traded up to the No. 25 pick, where they snagged Dart as the second quarterback drafted.
As the draft continued, three more quarterbacks would come off the board ahead of Sanders throughout the first four rounds, including Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, and Dillon Gabriel, leaving the Texas native with very few options left.
With the 144th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns made the call to select Sanders, adding him to an already chaotic quarterback room. He joins NFL veterans like Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett, as well as incoming rookie Dillon Gabriel.
