Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia Mountaineers continue to address the defensive side of the ball through the transfer portal, and Wednesday’s developments continued that narrative.
The Mountaineers landed two players in the transfer portal on Wednesday with the commitment of UNLV linebacker John Lewis and Akron defensive back Darrian Lewis.
Both John and Darrian Lewis bring solid collegiate numbers with them. John Lewis, a 6-foot-3 linebacker from Madison, Mississippi, spent the previous four years with Mississippi State before electing to transfer to UNLV this winter. A few months later, Lewis will head to Morgantown, West Virginia, for the next season of his collegiate career. He totaled 45 tackles, five of which were TFLs, in his time with the Bulldogs.
Coming out of Germantown High School in the Class of 2021, Lewis was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 170th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 19th-ranked player at his position and the second-ranked player in the state of Mississippi.
Darrian Lewis, a 5-foot-10 defensive back from Akron, Ohio, spent the previous three seasons with the Zips, posting some incredible stats. The Ohio native brings more than 200 total tackles, 15 pass breakups, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble to Morgantown as a junior.
