One of the Big 12’s premier defensive talents is on the verge of making a significant move.
Houston safety A.J. Haulcy, a two-time All-Big 12 selection, is expected to visit LSU this weekend, and according to On3’s Pete Nakos, he’s likely to land with the Tigers.
Haulcy’s agency, A&P Sports Agency, confirmed the planned visit, though specific dates have not been disclosed.
Standing at 6-foot-0, 215 pounds, Haulcy has been a formidable presence in the secondary.
In 2024, he recorded 74 tackles, five interceptions, and 13 pass breakups, earning First Team All-Big 12 honors.
His performance included an impressive 85.8 coverage grade (per PFF), ranking fourth among Big 12 safeties.
Haulcy’s potential move to LSU would bolster the Tigers’ secondary, providing them with a seasoned playmaker with legit ball-hawking abilities. For Houston, Haulcy’s departure signifies a significant loss, as he was penciled in as a defensive cornerstone for the Coogs in 2025.
Now, it appears Willie Fritz and company will be left to explore other options before their season gets underway against Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, August 28.
