Utah Basketball Adds Impressive Forward in Transfer Portal

Looking to make a statement in his first season as head coach at Utah, Alex Jensen took a step in the right direction with the latest transfer portal addition in Salt Lake City.

On Saturday afternoon, Jensen added a new player to his roster with the commitment of Western Kentucky’s Babacar Faye.

Last season with the Hilltoppers, Faye averaged 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game on 53.7% shooting from the field. He also connected on 38.5% of shots from three-point range and 80.4% from the free-throw line.

While Faye’s numbers stand out impressively, he could only suit up for 10 games last season, due to a season-ending knee injury.

With the commitment, Utah has now added seven players through the transfer portal. Faye will join James Okonkwo, Jahki Howard, Terrence Brown, Elijah Moore, Seydou Traore, and Dom McHenry in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in the 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
