As it turns out, Rich Rodriguez isn’t the only thing that the West Virginia Mountaineers are bringing back from their storied history for the 2025 season.
On Monday, WVU football announced the return of its 1965 uniform combination for next season, honoring the 60th anniversary of the original design.
The vintage threads will tweak the team’s colors to “Old Gold” and “Light Blue,” as can be seen in the silhouette of the state of West Virginia.
Today, the program allowed Athletic Director Wren Baker and designer Kristin Coldsnow to share the story behind the uniform combination and what makes it so special to add to the program’s options for 2025 and beyond.
The Mountaineers have not announced when they’ll don the new threads, but the throwback uniforms will be worn at some point in the 2025 season.
West Virginia will open its 2025 campaign against Robert Morris on August 30 in Milan Puskar Stadium.
